After my 2 year old’s bath I was getting her dressed. I started singing to her “Don’t you worry ’bout a thing. Every little thing is gonna be alright….” After a little of that she got right up to me and said “Momma, I so… happy to you.” Then she hugged me really tight and long. I said “I love you!” And she answered “Yeah.” As if to say, that’s it, that’s what I was trying to say.
Her reaction really surprised me, because usually when I sing she shakes her head no or tells me to stop. She is definitely not a fan of my singing. I don’t know what was different today, maybe I sang like I was really trying to tell her something. But the sincerity of her reaction was startlingly beautiful to me. It’s one of the amazing things about kids. They are able to say things so well because of their inexperience.
